Applications of Ergodic Theory to Combinatorics and Ramsey Theory

A mini-course by Vitaly Bergelson

Wrocław, May 28 - June 1, 2016

Abstract

The goal of this mini-course is to demonstrate mutually enhancing connections between ergodic theory and various combinatorial and diophantine problems. The topics include (but are not limited to) multiple recurrence and Ramsey theory; applications of topological algebra in Stone-Cech compactifications; generalizations of Weyl theorem on uniform distribution of polynomials and dynamical systems on nil-manifolds; patterns in primes.
